Background & Need

Sharada Secondary School serves approximately 700 students from pre-school through Grade 12 in Kharang Bazaar, Chainpur. Rapid student enrollment growth led to severe classroom shortages, leaving the existing single-story structure insufficient to meet basic educational needs.

In response to a formal proposal from the school and recommendations from Chainpur Municipality, SODEC secured financial support from Another Brick in Nepal (ABIN) to expand the school's physical infrastructure.

Project Scope & Deliverables

  • Vertical Expansion: Added a second story featuring 4 fully equipped classrooms to accommodate the growing student body.
  • Complete Building Finishing: Executed plastering, electrification, painting, and installation of doors and windows across both the newly constructed story and the original structure.
  • Monitoring & Handover: Conducted a formal monitoring visit with ABIN representatives (Robert Tournour, Craig Fulton, and Cathi Tournour) in October 2023, followed by the official project handov

Impact

This expansion significantly reduces classroom crowding for more than 700 students, delivering a well-lit, secure, and modern learning atmosphere. The collaboration between Chainpur Municipality, ABIN, and SODEC highlights effective public-NGO partnerships in improving rural educational infrastructure.
